The solution involved the construction of an island photovoltaic system mounted on a mobile trolley with a dual function, powering the electric milking machines in the alpine pasture at high altitude during the summer period and powering the house at the bottom of the valley during the winter period.
In its initial configuration in 2015, 8 monocrystalline 300Wp panels mounted on purpose-built telescopic rails, a Victron Bluesolar 150/70A MPPT charge controller, a Victron Multipus 24V/3000VA inverter charger, and 8 12V/130Ah AGM deep Cycle batteries were provided on the towable trolley.
During 2019/2020, the 3000VA Multiplus was replaced with the more powerful 5000VA version and the charge controller with a new smartsolar 150/70A MPPT model; the battery bank, on the other hand, was completely revamped with the installation of 9kWh of 24V Sirius supercapacitor storage.
With the latest version, also combined with an emergency back up generator set, in summer the system is able to guarantee two complete daily milking machine work cycles, morning and evening.
